An achilles strain

Well it looks like my poor run of injuries has continued. My left achilles has flaired up and I’m off the track for a few days. It looks like we’ve gotten onto the problem early and it should be ok in a few more days. It’s already been 4 days since I stopped training on the track and already I’m feeling a lot better.

Stay tuned for my first update when i return to the track… hopefully later this week. I can’t afford a lot of time off the track as Commonwealth Games selection trials is just over a month away.

A slower but firmer path to Nationals

A slight tweak to my right hamstring means that I’m going to miss a couple of the domestic season races. It’s a little disappointing, but it’s also brought about what I think is going to be a positive change to the way I train.

Post Beijing has been both a challenging and enjoyable time for my [...]

A busy schedule

Hey guys, Wow, things are super busy at the moment. And I can’t see things changing anytime soon. I’ve started working full time at Westpac (which i must say is a fantastic employer!!!) and I’m still training full time. As a result my life is pretty much just work and training!!! At the moment I’m [...]

First Commonwealth Games A Qualifier

Last night saw me run 11.36 and in doing so run my first Commonwealth Games A Qualifier. To get an automatic qualification for Delhi I need to now come in the top 2 at Nationals in Perth.

The run was also pleasing as Ive been quite tentative in my training and racing because of my hamstring. [...]

Starting work with Westpac

Well I’ve just started working for Westpac as a relationship banker. I’m on the graduate program which is going to be great as I’ll see so much of the organisation and work out what I really want to get into.

It’s been a bit of a shock to the system however. I’m starting work at 7:30am [...]

Australia Day at the Lodge

One of the perks of being a sportsperson in the Nations Capital is that you’re able to accept an invitation to the Lodge without too many difficulties re travel logistics. This was my third invitation to attend an Australia Day function at the Prime Ministers residence, but my first under its current owner. When I [...]

New Zealand training camp

Well guys I’m in New Zealand currently on a training camp. We’re in Christchurch (which will be the venue of the 2011 IPC World Athletics Championships) checking out the facilities we’ll be competing in next year. It’s been a really worthwhile trip as we’ve discovered a few interesting quirks about the track we’ll be running [...]

Slip and Slide Shenanigans

Boxing Day saw me at my mums place in the country. It was fantastic as I’d organised a slip and slide party. Slip ‘n’ slide parties have to be the easiest parties to organise. Mum had bought a 20m roll of plastic at the hardware store, we laid it out on the slope of the [...]
